By using ZonaProtec you accept these terms. They are short and written to be read, because terms nobody reads protect nobody.

What this site is

ZonaProtec is an independent, informational site about emergency preparedness. We translate the guidance of official agencies into concrete decisions for a specific household, and we show our sources so you can check us.

What this site is not

ZonaProtec is not an official emergency source and does not claim to be. We are not affiliated with FEMA, NOAA, the USGS, the CDC, Copernicus, or any other agency whose data we cite. Citing a source is not an endorsement by that source.

During an active emergency, the instructions of your local authorities take precedence over anything you read here. If the two conflict, follow the authorities. Always.

We do not provide medical advice. Where a recommendation touches medication or a health condition, the right answer is your doctor or your pharmacist, not this website.

We do not provide legal, financial or insurance advice, including on whether a given policy covers a given event.

The limits of live data

Several tools on this site query official feeds in real time. Those feeds can be delayed, incomplete, temporarily unavailable, or wrong. Some cover certain countries far better than others.

A quiet map does not mean there is no danger. It may mean the source has not published yet, or does not cover your area at all. Never treat the absence of a warning here as an assurance of safety.

Our calculators apply stated assumptions and round their inputs. They are planning aids, not measurements.

No warranty and limitation of liability

The site is provided “as is”, without warranty of any kind as to accuracy, completeness, availability or fitness for a particular purpose.

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, we accept no liability for any loss or damage arising from the use of, or reliance on, this site or the third-party data it displays. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.

Your decisions during an emergency are yours, informed by the authorities responsible for your area.

Permitted use

You may read, print and share our pages for personal, non-commercial purposes, including within your household, workplace or community group, provided you credit ZonaProtec and link back to the original page.

You may not republish our content wholesale as your own, present it as official guidance, use it to train machine-learning models without our written permission, or scrape the site in ways that degrade it for others.

Intellectual property

Our text, calculators, design and source code belong to ZonaProtec.

The underlying data belongs to the agencies that produce it, under their own licences and conditions. Some of that data carries restrictions we honour: the statistics section uses EM-DAT (CRED / UCLouvain) under a licence that prohibits commercial use, which is why those pages carry no advertising or affiliate links.

Agency names and logos belong to their owners and are used only to identify the source of a figure.

Advertising and affiliate links

The site is funded by advertising and by Amazon affiliate commissions. As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases. The commission does not change the price you pay or the recommendations we make, and it is disclosed next to the links. See the privacy policy for how advertising cookies are handled.

We link to official sources and, in the commercial sections, to retailers. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for their content, their availability or their privacy practices.

Errors and corrections

If you find something wrong, out of date or badly explained, write to info@zonaprotec.com. Substantive corrections are noted on the corrected page alongside its new review date.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. The date at the top of this page is the last revision. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the revised terms.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which ZonaProtec is established, without prejudice to any mandatory consumer protections available to you in your country of residence.
